Solar Eclipse
Brass and obsidian create a dynamic interplay of light and shadow in this piece where the stone represents the Sun, and the metal the Moon. While, as a satellite, the Moon can reflect natural light – as it happens when it remains visible during the day– it also absorbs light as it happens during a solar eclipse, when it is seen as one with the Sun if observed in the dark.
The Solar Eclipse table evokes both the reflective and absorbent properties of the Moon at once. Additionally, the contraposition between brass and obsidian is further enhanced by the use of LED lights that, once switched on, add a unique glow to the piece and eliminate the possibility of complete darkness, which is most commonly seen during Solar Eclipse, unless one finds themselves in specific points on the Earth during its occurrence.
