Abyssal Astronomy

The history of our planet cannot be unlinked to that of the cosmos, therefore, the mineral world and outer space share a material bond. Throughout history, different societies have explored this connection through symbolisms, primarily religious ones. Mesoamerican cultures, for instance, oriented their artistic and architectural expressions in association with celestial movements and their meanings in everyday life: their conceptions of time directly integrated human landscapes with their artistic patterns and divine landscapes with astronomical ones.
